The History of Online Sports Betting and Sportsbooks
It is very common for sports fans to feel as if they want to be a more intrinsic part of the action than simply spectating. Although, for the vast majority of people, dreams of actually playing your sport of choice to a professional level are sadly unrealistic, this desire to ‘take part’ has been a major reason why sport betting has become so popular.
It is now possible to place bets on almost any sport imaginable. The process is very simple indeed; all a prospective gambler needs to do is contact a sports book (an individual or organisation who takes bets on sport) and see whether they are taking bets for your chosen event. If they are, they will tell you what odds they are offering for the bet that you want to make. For example, if you wanted to bet that Papua New Guinea were going to win the highest number of medals at the forthcoming Olympics, you would be given very good odds; that is, for each dollar or pound you bet, you would stand to make considerably more than one dollar or pound if your gamble paid off.
As sport betting has become more popular, the number of methods for gambling has increased. Online betting has been incredibly successful, with many billions of dollars being gambled every year. This is, in part, as a result of many sportsbooks’ exploitation of less stringent, foreign gambling laws. Online gambling has also been a bonus for bettors, as the comparative lack of restriction on foreign sports books often means that better odds are available on the internet than in your local betting shop. If you are considering online betting, though, you should ensure that you are using a reputable company, as scams are still a very real problem.
So what makes a good sportsbook? Sport betting had very humble beginnings. Bookmakers were often just individuals out to make some extra cash, particularly in the heady days before gambling regulation. Today, however, the number of sports books available is enormous and growing rapidly. One need only look around town to see the huge choice available to the prospective gambler, and it can often be difficult to differentiate between them.
Of course, one of the main considerations when choosing a sports book, once you have established that they are taking bets on your chosen event, is the odds that they are offering. Until the early 60s, there were only a very small number of bookmakers providing odds to the sportsbooks. This meant that odds and prices were fairly uniform, but the growth recent in the number of oddsmakers has meant that gamblers may now be presented with a fairly wide range of odds.
Another great area of growth is online betting. Odds online are often better, as companies can base themselves in countries where gambling restrictions are not so tight. When choosing an online sports book, there are more possible considerations. Often, it is possible to place far more eccentric, exotic bets online, simply due to the sheer scale of some of these operations. Another likely factor to consider is payment methods; most online sports books now take payments from, and pay winnings directly to, your credit card, ensuring ease of use. UK online betting companies are massive, with some of them employing over 15,000 people to run their operations.
Although online sport betting presents major benefits, it also poses some risks. You should always be careful when giving your bank details online; ensure that the web site is encrypted, and only ever use online sports books who have been accredited by a reputable online gambling consortium.

The Psychology of Football Sportsbook
Football sportsbooks have grown in popularity to a significant degree in recent years and a great deal of the reason for this is the fact that there is a serious love for the game of football that translates into a desire to become involved in the sport. Now, some may say that this is a psychological stretch because they may feel that the notion of a psychological component that connects people to the game is “psycho babble.” Hey, people can believe what they want to believe, but there is great evidence that this desire to be involved in the game exists as a means of fueling the popularity of the football sportsbooks. Again, some may disagree that such a psychological connection exists, but the truth of the matter is that it is this transfer of emotions that makes football sportsbook wildly popular. What we can all agree on, however, is that this does not mean people will automatically win their wagers simply because there is an emotional connection.
Of course, love of the game of football is not the only item needed to become successful with football sportsbooks. There needs to be an understanding of how the way to win at football betting and that means understanding what football betting entails. Now, some may assume that all it takes to win at football sportsbooks involves selecting the winning team. Well, in a “straight bet” this would be an accurate assessment. However, straight betting is not always common as point spreads and over and under bets, etc all play a role in football sportsbooks. As such, it becomes important to understand the multiple variants on how the specific bets associated with football sportsbooks are required.
Unfortunately, most football sportsbooks do not clearly define the various terms that are associated with football betting. This is not because they wish to be dismissive of those who are new to the gaming football sportsbooks offer as much as they often (erroneously) assume that most people who are interested in sportsbook betting are people who have experience in the arena. While this is often the case it is not always the case and, as such, football sportsbooks that make these generalized assumptions will often lose out on getting the business of a number of potential customers who may turn elsewhere for an “education” into the basics of the game.
Thanks to the internet, however, the ability to find information on pretty much every subject has become much more widely available than ever before and with this the ability to research pretty much any topic is possible. So, rather than rush blindly into playing with football sportsbooks from a position of limited knowledge it is much more advisable to research the subject a little bit so that one does not make poor judgment decisions that may lead to improper betting with football sportsbooks. Once again, it is ok to have an emotional attachment that fuels a desire to become involved with the game on a wagering level.

Are Online Sportsbooks And Casinos Legal?
Internet casinos and sportsbooks have grown immensely in popularity over the past several years. From playing cards to betting on the Super Bowl to playing roulette, you can literally have Las Vegas in the comfort of your own home. However, is it legal to gamble online?
The answer is, yes and no. Currently, the law stipulates that online gambling is illegal, but given the fact that most online casinos continue to operate unfettered, it might seem that it is in fact legal to run an online betting or casino business.
What forms of gambling are available online? Well, you can play poker and other card games, you can bet on sports, or you can play games of chance, such as roulette, craps, etc.
Betting on sports seems like a perfectly legitimate form of online betting – the computer does not control who wins a pro football game. Games of chance should probably be prohibited. A computerized roulette wheel can easily be fixed, resulting in a few winning bets, but enough losing spins to insure the house wins.
So, of these activities, which ones are legal? According to the Wire Wager Act, betting on sports is the only form of online wagering that is illegal. The Wire Wager Act reads as follows:
“Whoever being engaged in the business of betting or wagering knowingly uses a wire communication facility for the transmission in interstate or foreign commerce of bets or wagers, or information assisting in the placement of bets or wagers on any sporting event or contest, or for the transmission of a wire communication which entitles the recipient to receive money or credit as a result of bets or wagers, or for information assisting in the placing of bets or wagers, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years or both.”
This means that it is illegal for American based internet companies to accept bets on sports or other “contests.” However, most online gambling enterprises have moved their operations offshore to countries in Central America and other countries around the world. It is common for most of these companies to be incorporated in places like Antigua or the Caribbean islands. PartyPoker, the most popular website for playing poker for money online, is licensed and regulated by the Government of Gibraltar.
Online sportsbooks, often run by Americans offshore, still accept bets from Americans, and this is where the problem arises. Americans are the biggest betters, and most of the income stream for online sports betting comes from American wagers. These companies usually provide wire instructions to the gamblers so that the player can wire money into a pre-funded betting account before they can begin wagering.
So, the question is, is it legal for an offshore company to run their business offshore but still accept bets from the United States, where online sports betting is technically illegal? Yes and no. Theoretically it is illegal, but it is very difficult to compel an online sports betting service to shut itself down if they operate under the laws of a foreign government where it is legal.
It is been very difficult for the Department of Justice to enforce the Wire Wager Act when it comes to offshore companies, and the offshore betting business continues to get bigger and bigger. In 1998, the sum total of all internet wagers was estimated at 0 million, and has grown by 10 or more times that between then and the year 2006.
The Wire Wager Act was upheld when the U.S. Supreme Court, during 2001 and 2002, refused to review the conviction of Jay Cohen, who had been running an internet sportsbook based in Antigua. And, even though the Department of Justice has said in recent years that that the Wire Wager Act also declares online casino games, not just sports betting, to be illegal, the Federal Appeals Court has ruled that that interpretation is not correct.
However, in July of 2006, everything changed. On a vote of 317-93, the U.S. House of Representatives voted to ban financial payments to offshore casinos as part of the The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 H.R. 4411. The legislation also compels banks and credit card companies to cut off payments to the estimated 2,300 gambling sites located outside of U.S. jurisdiction. This legislation bans all forms of internet gambling, including card games and sportsbetting.
Ultimately, the U.S. Government is just trying to protect betters from getting screwed by online casinos that accept bets over the internet but do not pay out when someone wins. However, it does not seem fair to allow major casinos that operate in Las Vegas and Atlantic City to have a monopoly on the betting industry.
Online casinos and sports betting over the internet should be permitted. The United States simply needs to implement a system whereby the online casino industry is regulated, making it mandatory for these companies to disclose the details of their operations and apply for a casino or sportsbook license.

Sportsbook Software – a Useful Tool for Sports Betting
Can anyone say for a fact how old are sports? Since men first walked the earth, in their primordial state, they started to compete in one way or another. And since there were two cavemen battling over a bone, the other two in a corner were wagering on who will win the prize. Therefore, I think it is safe to say that betting on a competition is as old as the competition itself.
Nowadays, the competition is not over a bone, but for something of larger value like money, prizes, medals or other things like that. Organizing a game, giving it a set of rules, you obtain the one thing most men like to watch â sports. Every sport has someone who practices it â competitors â, someone who watches it â fans â and someone who is always ready to bet on it.
Betting, especially sports betting, is very common in the world around us today. The main difference is that some countries have come to terms with the idea and legalized betting, while others, like the US, only legalized gambling in the state of Nevada.
However, available around the world, is the internet. The internet brings us the unique opportunity of online betting. Even if you live in the US, online betting can go around the law and everyone can enjoy it. The most suitable place for betting is in Australia, because there are lots of sports to be bet on, but Europe and other parts of the world do not yield very easily.
Online betting requires sportsbook software so the program would work. The sportsbook software helps you wager on the results of many sports events, some of small, others of great importance. This is a must have if you want to establish an online betting business.
However, there is still the question of where can you find such a program. There are lots of solutions available for you over the internet, but not all of them provide quality products. If you want to have reliable sportsbook software so your clients can enjoy sports betting at its finest, be sure to visit elitegamingsolutions.com. The website however has other products to offer, as well.
What I have pointed out afore, about gambling, also applies to poker. Even though there are lots of places where it is not on the same page with the law, there are places where you can enjoy a poker night out with no problems. There is a solution for the troubles you encounter.
Even though it may not be the same as playing poker at a live table, online poker offers a lot of satisfaction and it can be savored by most people around the world. The crew at elite gaming solutions provides poker software for anyone who is interested in establishing such a business over the internet.
The poker software provided by them gives people the chance to play both Texas HoldâEm and Omaha, with and without limit. What makes the poker software even more appealing is the graphics which make someone feel just like he would be at a real table.
If you are interested in sportsbook software, poker software, casino software or any kind of gambling software, remember elite gaming solutions as your provider.
From ancient times to modern days, sports and gambling have been passing through time hand in hand. Online gambling has grown in popularity like none ever expected, and their businesses are growing still. If you want to enter the market with a gambling site purchasing the right sportsbook software or poker software will make the difference.

How to Truly Put a Large Dent in Any Sportsbook
I’ve been trying for a few years now to figure out how to consistently win against online sportsbooks, because the money is definitely there and there’s no harm in taking it. What I’ve found though, is that the guys who set the lines really know what they’re doing most of the time. They normally have every bit of good information about each game, and they also use tricks and create traps. They do make some mistakes, but not often enough. Over the long term the sportsbooks, as most people realize, make a tremendous fortune off of their players.
Even professional handicappers often do very poorly against them. I’ve spent much time studying the premium picks of just about every handicapper in the business, but I have yet to find a single one who can consistently win without going really cold intermittently. In addition, these guys usually completely contradict each other every day, so following more than one becomes very confusing. Basically though, if I had found even one handicapper I could rely on, I would have made a ton of money by following his picks.
I was often really disappointed because I wanted so much to just beat the sportsbooks, especially the ones who had some of my money. I wanted to get it back and take some of theirs and see how they liked it. Mostly though, I just wanted to win alot of money. They are so rich. I ultimately came up with a system for betting baseball that I think works pretty well but you have to have alot to win alot, and it doesn’t work with other sports. Someone else’s information does, however, and it’s also more effective than mine. I actually found it one day while reading stuff on the internet that I thought would help me win at football.
A portion of this information is in fact effective with football, but it’s really designed for baseball and basketball. I fully analyzed it and studied how I would have to implement it in order not to lose anything, and I also calculated approximately how much I would make off of it Here is what I came up with: during the basketball season, there are around eighty bets to make. I wouldn’t want to commit more than one third of my money per bet. If there’s a loss, however, I can safely commit the other two thirds for at least the next twenty bets. As for baseball, there are around forty games to wager on per year. I wouldn’t risk more than half my bankroll on any one of these, absent a loss. In the event of a baseball loss, I can probably safely commit my full remaining bankroll for the remainder of the season. Now, there may not be any losses all year, but I strongly believe that it’s important to protect against the possibility of one or two. In this way, it’s pretty much impossible to get hurt and I will definitely always come out extremely well ahead.
The web site www.sportsbettingchamp.com/PSS/sports_betting-indi24.pdf will show you the football system, but the real moneymaker is in the baseball and basketball bets. The football system wins 62 or 63 percent of the time, but that’s not good enough for me personally. I strongly recommend sticking only with the baseball and basketball. Those bets are like gold. The baseball system has only one loss in five years. As for the basketball system, it had only one loss last year and none yet this year. Also, last year’s one loss came when three injured players who weren’t supposed to play were unexpectedly put in the game last minute.
I know for sure that the information I’ve given here is special. I know it will help people. If I thought it might not help, I wouldn’t write about it. It will, but I also want to say that I think it’s very important to try and stay away from making other bets on the side. They’re too risky. Why bother? I enjoy action as much as the next person, but isn’t winning more important?

How to Choose an Online Sportsbook
With a plethora of online sportsbooks available there are a ton of questions to ask yourself before signing on the dotted line, here at MalvernSports.com or anywhere else.
First of all, any book you choose should be easy to navigate and to make transactions. That sounds simple enough, but you should be able to move between the pages easily, and to bounce around from pointspreads to futures to propositions with a simple click. Any company that is in the business of online sports betting has to provide a venue accessible to the point where it’s impossible to imagine any problems with navigating their website.
An online sportsbook should also provide accessibility to the information you’ll need to make an informed wager. What’s the point of putting up betting odds if you’re not going to present any statistics or trends for the bettor? There should also be breaking news on the teams and players from the prospective sports on which you like to wager, much like you’ll find at MalvernSports.com.
There should be promotions, promotions, and more promotions. Not to the point where the online sportsbook is selling you the world in spite of its actual services, but it should be pretty clear they want your business. There are plenty of options on the table, so there should be solid reasons in the initial stages to sign up for an account, including sign-up bonuses. Look for competitive incentives, and an online book that welcomes bettors’ feedback and bases their policies on players’ needs.
The rules, disclaimers, privacy policies, and security measures should be clearly visible. It’s evident any site that takes itself – and your money – seriously should have these elements in place, with the added caveat that any book you choose should have some live details on these all-important realities. The rules should be clearly defined, the disclaimers visible, the privacy policy accessible, and details on the security measures (server, firewall, and encryption) should be right there for your perusal.
Finally, and by all means, get some information on your prospective online sportsbook on a third-party website or discussion forum. Get the word from the betting community, because they’re the ones who are asking the exact same questions as you. Word gets around, so if a certain site is repeatedly recommended, or frequently canned, make your judgments accordingly.
I bet on sports for a living and i’d like to help you do it to.

One thing to take into account is that the bookmaker is simply a facilitator whose intent is to level the odds so that he makes a small profit no matter which team wins. If too much money is wagered on one team, the bookmaker will adjust the point spread to encourage sports betting on the other team. This ensures him of making a profit. In order for you to make a profit, you only need a very small edge over the long term. A profitable handicapper hits at only a rate of 53% or more games against the spread.
These are the points to follow when pick a top online sportsbook:
1. They have several years of successful operation. The sportsbook has a reputation that has been proven over time and not in claims in their advertisements.
